Use the following Dakota County and Nebraska offices for official records:
- Court case files: see criminal court case records, or contact the clerk of the court that heard the case
- Criminal records and RAP sheets: contact the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division
- Arrest, booking, and jail records: contact the Dakota County Sheriff's Office and Corrections
- Official Nebraska record requests: order through the Nebraska State Patrol
- Police reports and incident records: contact the agency that wrote the report
- Set-aside and sealing matters: file with the court that handled the case after confirming the proper procedure
For sheriff and corrections records, start with the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, 1601 Broadway, Dakota City, NE 68731, 402-987-2170. Published weekday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sheriff report requests must be made in person unless staff give other directions.
Dakota County Court, 402-987-2145, handles misdemeanors, traffic and ordinance matters, and felony preliminary stages. The Clerk of District Court, 402-987-2114, holds felony trial files.
