Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive basic technical details when a visitor loads a page:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Dakota County guidance points to the Sheriff's Office, local courts, Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and Nebraska Sex Offender Registry as the responsible record sources. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party criminal record or consumer report. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is subject to that company's privacy policy, retention choices, and sharing rules rather than this policy. Review those terms before using a partner tool.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state agency, legal aid, or third-party service websites. Their privacy terms apply after a visitor leaves our pages. Read the destination's policy before providing personal information.
An advertising provider may use its own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be processed by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for the information in our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under age 18. If such data comes to our attention, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Your Data Rights
Data rights depend on the law that applies to the visitor and request. The Nebraska Public Records Law, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, governs records held by public bodies, not private visitor data held here. Subject to applicable privacy law, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
